Cellular Sales Thrives Behind Leadership of Dane Scism

February 17, 2010

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. –While many companies are struggling to survive and in many cases facing cutbacks or even closing their doors, one Knoxville-based company continues an unprecedented growth trend in to 2010.  The nation’s largest Verizon Wireless retailer, Cellular Sales, continues to expand, opening new stores and entering new markets throughout the country.

Dane Scism, a graduate of the University of Tennessee is the CEO and founder of Cellular Sales.  Scism credits the company’s customer service model as a driving force behind the growth. “We strive to treat every one of our customers as if they are our only customer, and we always place a great emphasis on quality customer communication,” says Scism.

“Not only do we place a high value on customer service, but we also focus internally on developing and grooming leaders within our company,” added Scism.  “By making sure we have the best leaders in place, we are providing our customers with the best possible service.”

In 2009, Cellular Sales opened 68 new stores and have already opened a handful in 2010, including entry in to two entirely new markets, New York and Pennsylvania.  This growth has not gone unnoticed as the company was featured as one of the top 200 in Inc. magazine’s latest “Inc. 5,000” list of the nation’s fastest-growing privately held retail companies.

Another contributing factor to the company’s recent growth has been the surge in popularity of smartphones.  These mobile phones offering advanced computer-like features accounted for 27 percent of Cellular Sales’ total sales in January this year, compared to 10.7% of sales in January 2009.  Realizing advanced devices like the smartphone may create a number of questions and possible headaches for customers, the company developed an online community (FeistyLittleDroid.com) where users and fans of the Google Android smartphone could share tips and get expert advice along with the latest Droid-related news.
